Playing your own Styles on an Arranger Keyboard
In nimbu the accompaniments can be exported to YAMAHA® Styles to play them on a YAMAHA® Arranger Keyboard. To do this, simply assign the individual nimbu instruments to the style parts SubRhythm, Rhythm, Bass, Chord 1, Chord 2, Pad, Phrase 1 and Phrase 2 with the appropriate settings.
While otherwise with the style development one tries to make a style usable for as many songs as possible by variations and a multiplicity of settings, the opposite way is followed in nimbu. Mostly the accompaniment is already available in nimbu, because it has been calculated from a MIDI file, for example, so that it is only a matter of playing this special accompaniment on an arranger keyboard.
This way is considerably easier, since hundreds of settings are eliminated. Finally, the accompaniment can be edited completely in its full musicality in nimbu directly.
But also here some preparations have to be made, because e.g. the YAMAHA® styles can be played with only one time signature. Furthermore, these styles do not know any chord scales, so that the tension tones of individual accompanying instruments must either be reduced to chord tones. Or one chooses as style part e.g. a phrase whose notes are either not transposed at all or only in relation to their root note. This is recommended if characteristic tension notes in an accompanying instrument are not to be omitted.
Since in nimbu the events of the accompanying instruments are already separated from the chords of the harmony and, in addition, their chord tones are distinguished by color from the tension tones, one recognizes very quickly by means of simple rules which strategy is to be adopted per style part. These rules are in the manual.
The styles are created in no time at all. The concept of chord scales proves to be an unbeatable advantage here as well.
nimbu offers the following settings
nimbu takes over the required settings from the session. This also applies to the markers that are set in nimbu.
If nimbu directly controls the sound module in the YAMAHA® Arranger keyboard during style creation, these instrument settings are also automatically adopted in the style. So the sound of the YAMAHA® style is already designed in nimbu.
If you want, you can also develop more universal styles in nimbu. For this purpose, special provisions for transposition must be set in the Settings tab.
